Easter Monday Wrap
It's easy for some to forget that they beat us 12 months ago in this game. The pattern was eerily similar to the same game: centre clearances, quick goals, a couple of free kicks, we gave them the momentum and we had to claw back. It's sort of what we've been doing, we've got faith that our best footy is at a high level, but we knew that we needed to fight really hard to one, get this game on our terms, but build a bit of momentum in our season.
We fully understand there's going to be challenges throughout the year, the comp is just so even, so the competitors that I respect are the ones where when things aren't going so well find a way to stand up. I thought we had several of them today, Stewart and Dangerfield in particular stood up and led the way.
Ollie Henry was a real catalyst for us coming on in that third quarter and provided some spark. When we put the opposition under pressure in our forward 50, we've got some good players down there that are a handful.
Is Jeremy Cameron the Game’s Best Player?
I always find that hard to work out, but I'm biased. I think he is.
Only if he is better than Tom Stewart. I think his best footy is in front of him too, which is exciting. The obvious things that everyone can see I don't need to spend too much time on but gee he's a competitor. I really admired him early in his career, even in the way he jumps at balls that he's a fair chance to get hurt in. And he was sore early in the year, but it didn't stop his attack on the ball and his willingness to get in there, he's a start.
On Jed Bews
He was subbed off with concussion at half time so he'll go into the 14 day minimum protocol unfortunately. It seemed as if he wasn't too bad but at half time wore on his symptoms got a bit worse was my understanding.
Will Sam De Koning Be Available This Week?
I do (Expect him to clear concussion protocols). We watched him train yesterday and it was a really, really good session, so that's positive.
The Club’s List Depth
We've worked really hard to try and get a deep squad where we can use those numbers. Those guys specifically, we didn't bring them in to help us in the first month of the season. They're in their third season, they're 20 and we're really confident that over a ten year period they’re going to be really good players for us.
We will continue to have good players who will be important to our future roll in and out of the side a little bit. I think our guys understand that better than most because we do have a track record. It's hard to avoid the headline. We had to name a team on Thursday night for a Monday game and Ollie Henry was never going to be out of the team but you have to name him omitted if you want him to play.
