The VFLW Cats have cemented their position in the top four, with a clinical 35-point win over the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.

The Cats kicked the opening goal of the match and never looked back, leading all the way until the final siren to win their fourth straight game.

Geelong flew out of the gates, dominating the opening term to reach a 19-point lead by the first break.

The Cats’ forward half pressure was immense, creating numerous turnovers and recording 11 of the first 14 entries inside 50’s.

Sachi DeGiacomi continued her impressive start to the season up forward, booting the opening two majors of the game.

Geelong’s backline stood tall in the second term, conceding just one goal from the Bulldogs seven forward 50 entries to start the quarter.

Cats Captain Chloe Leonard lead from the front with three intercept possessions, as Geelong kept the Bulldogs out of reach on the scoreboard.

Tackling-machine Renee Garing earned a holding-the-ball free kick in front of goal, then converted the set-shot to keep the Cats 19-points clear at the main break.

Cats VFLW Coach Elise Coventry said she was proud of the way her players wrestled back the momentum.

All the Stats: Geelong vs Western Bulldogs

“The players did it, which was the best part in quarter two," Coventry told geelongcats.com.au after the game.

"I felt like the Bulldogs grabbed hold of the momentum early, and the players got back. For a young group is a positive sign, that they can identify areas to work on out on the ground and fix them.”

Geelong repelled more attacks from the Bulldogs early in the third term, before a dominant back end of the quarter saw the Cats extend their lead to 23-points by the final break.

The Cats then iced the game in the final term, when DeGiacomi slotted her third goal of the contest to extend the lead to 29-points.

Geelong’s win marks four in a row since their round one loss, a milestone they celebrated after the game.

“We celebrated it at the end of the game, we think winning four in a row is a real positive start to the year," she said.

"The most positive part for us coaches is there is still room for improvement. We don’t think we’ve hit our straps yet. We think there is a lot of work to do on our game-style and method.

"So to get the four wins when we’re still working on that, puts us in a really good position.”

Liv Cicolini looked dangerous around goal, booting two majors of her own to provide a spark up forward for Geelong.

Charlotte Simpson continued her dominant season in the midfield, collecting an impressive 25-disposals in the engine room, to go with six tackles and four clearances.

Chloe Scheer continues to relish her opportunity in the Cats midfield, gathering 20 disposals and six clearances in another classy performance.

Coventry was pleased with her midfield and the way they worked into the game after half time.

“There’s some very handy midfielders in there," Coventry said.

"We have a really nice mix of big strong bodied mids, with some quick and nimble mids who get themselves in a position to work through clearances.

Today the Bulldogs got on top of us, and that was something we highlighted in the coaches’ box that we needed to get in better positions around stoppages. Once they got themselves set, they went to work and showed what they can do.”

The VFLW Cats will now travel to Arden Street to face North Melbourne, in a bid for five wins in a row.
