Zach Tuohy is on track to be back training with the main group well ahead of the start of the season after undergoing a minor arthroscopy on his knee over the offseason.
Tuohy underwent the procedure in October, and told the Geelong Advertiser he is upbeat about his prospects of a return sooner rather than later.
“I had a little cleanout on the knee, it was nothing too major and retrospectively it was a good time to happen,” Tuohy said.
“We won’t do anything silly before Christmas but everything so far has been on track, and I would be surprised if I wasn’t training with the main group in January if there are no setbacks, which it doesn’t look like there will be.”
Tuohy holds the longest current active streak of consecutive games played in the AFL, lining up in his last 138 contests.
He understands this start slow start to the year is just a bump in the road when compared to the injury struggles of others.
“I can’t complain, I have had a pretty decent run and I have seen guys go through worse than this,” he says.
“It has been a good few years since I have missed a game but this isn’t threatening Round 1, this is going to be well and truly good by then.
“Because it is this time of year you can kind of be a little cautious but it is all on track and it all feels really good.
