Geelong could see Jack Henry and Tyson Stengle return to the team for the weekend’s game against Fremantle, with both players currently in the mix to return from their respective foot and arm injuries according to Geelong GM of Football Simon Lloyd.
If selected, it will be Henry’s first game of the 2023 after sustaining a foot injury over the pre-season, while Stengle could play his first game since fracturing his arm against West Coast during Gather Round in mid-April.
Both players could join Brad Close back in the side after missing last week through suspension.
“Brad Close will return from suspension, great that Closey's returned, and also as Scotty mentioned last week, Jack Henry is in the mix as is Tyson Stengle who's coming back from the arm fracture and Jack has had the foot issue, but both are full training at the moment,” Lloyd told geelongcats.com.au
Lloyd said that he expects a number of players to make their return over the coming weeks, including Sam De Koning and skipper Patrick Dangerfield.
“Over the next couple of weeks, the next two to three weeks, we've got a cast of players looking to return,” he said.
“Sam De Koning is one of those who is currently back into full training and is moving really well, we know what Sam can do and there are others that are in the mix as well.
“We've got Pat Dangerfield, Gary Rohan and Jack Bowes who all have minor soft tissue injuries so the first two are minor hamstring and Jack was a minor calf.
“All are progressing really well through their rehabilitation programs.”
The one casualty from Friday night’s game against the Tigers is Ollie Henry who is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a testicular rupture.
“Late in the game Ollie Henry had a testicular rupture from a collision, so post game he reported it to the club, to our medicos, and he's had that repaired so he'll miss a couple of weeks.”
