Geelong Recruiter Shane O’Bree will depart the Club after accepting a position as Collingwood’s National Recruitment Manager.
O’Bree has been a member of Geelong’s football department for over 12 years, having originally joined as an Assistant Coach in October 2012.
After working with the Cats’ midfield group in his first two seasons, O’Bree moved into a development coaching role in 2015.
He was appointed senior coach of the Cats' VFL program in 2016, guiding the side to finals in his first season.
In 2022, it was announced that O’Bree would take on the newly created role of AFL Midfield and List Assistant before later moving into Geelong’s Recruiting team as a Recruiter.
Executive General Manager – Football Andrew Mackie thanked O’Bree for his extensive contribution to Geelong.
“Shane has been integral in helping the Club, working across numerous positions in our football department, first as a coach and more recently as a recruiter,” Mackie said.
“It is an exciting opportunity for Shane, and we wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
