Rhys Stanley is set to make his return to the AFL when Geelong takes on Melbourne in Thursday night's Retro Round clash at GMHBA Stadium.

After an impressive return via the VFL last week, Stanley is primed to bolster Geelong's ruck stocks as the Cats prepare to face Demons' dynamic duo Max Gawn and Brodie Grundy.

The Cats have only been forced to make one change to their line-up, with Patrick Dangerfield set to miss after suffering a fractured rib and partially collapsed lung during last week's game against Port Adelaide.

Geelong will name its substitute one hour prior to first bounce.

The match will also mark Chris Scott's 300th game as coach, with the two-time premiership coach set to draw within four matches of Geelong's all-time coaching record holder Reg Hickey.

Geelong takes on Melbourne this Thursday night from 7.20pm (local time) at GMHBA Stadium.
