Geelong has reached 60,000 members for the first time, with 60,270 members now standing proud with the club. This surpasses the 2017 record membership figure of 56,577.
This year marks the sixth consecutive season that the club has set a new membership record.
“The record is really about our members, who support the club through thick and thin and give us one of the most passionate supporter bases in the AFL,” Geelong Chief Executive Brian Cook said.
“We have strong membership support throughout Australia, and this continues to grow. Our strong performances on-field over a long period and our dedication to make a difference in our community help drive our membership.
“When you consider that in 2008, coming off a premiership year, our membership stood at a then record 36,850 there continues to be enormous growth with over 20,000 extra members now on board.
“We have also seen the AFL schedule nine home games at GMHBA Stadium this year for the first time since 1999 and the new facilities at GMHBA Stadium have also seen a surge in membership.
“The club’s successful seat resale program also assists our members, as they can work through the club to resell seats that they are unable to use for games. This program continues to grow and we encourage all members to utilise this for games they cannot attend.”
