Geelong defender Lachie Henderson underwent a minor surgery on his right knee earlier today.
Henderson left the field late in the final quarter of the Cats’ win over Brisbane at the Gabba on Sunday and scans yesterday revealed damage which required an arthroscopy.
Club medical staff will review Henderson in the coming days to determine a timeframe for his return.
Henderson booted two goals for the Cats after starting in the forwardline for the first time in 2016.
The former Blue and Lion is averaging a career high 14.78 disposals and 6.67 marks in 2016.
Geelong’s general manager of football Steve Hocking said whilst Henderson’s injury is unfortunate, he is expected to return to football this year.
“The timing of Lachie’s injury isn’t ideal but the pre-finals bye will gift him with more time to recover,” Hocking said.
“Lachie has been an important part of our team this year and we are optimistic he will see finals football.”
