They might be off to a perfect start in 2023 with wins in their opening two games, but the Cats refuse to let the results get to their head as they aim to perfect their brand of football.
With a clear focus on increasing their scoring prowess this season, the Cats piled on 10 goals against the Swans as they closed out a 27 point win last Saturday in Sydney.
Geelong were led by a scintillating five goal performance from star forward Chloe Scheer, while Jacqueline Parry booted three majors for the second straight week.
Despite making it two consecutive wins to open the season, Geelong are maintaining their focus on playing the best footy they can and letting the results take care of themselves.
Speaking on this week’s episode of Cats podcast ‘Yeah the Girls,’ Georgie Rankin, Becky Webster and Renee Garing touched on the team’s outlook with a greater goal in mind for 2023.
"Although we got the four points and got the job done, there are plenty of things we will take out of that game,” Garing said.
“We aren't content with some aspects of the game, there is room for improvement.
"I think it was important that we had that feeling because it means we are striving for a certain game style that we want to execute.
"To still come away with the four points is great but it shows our maturity and what we want to achieve each game."
The Cats attention now turns to a Friday night showdown against North Melbourne, who currently sit on top of the AFLW ladder.
