Geelong has announced that rookie listed players Ryan Bathie and Cameron Eardley will not be staying with the club in 2014.

Bathie spent the past three years with the Cats after making the transition from elite basketball to football. He played college basketball at Nicholls State University in the USA and also played with the Melbourne Tigers in the NBL.

He made his VFL debut in 2011 and played 55 games at that level over the past three years. He started as a defender but moved forward this season, booting 30 goals from 18 games. Bathie also played in three NAB Cup games and was a key member of the Cats 2012 VFL premiership winning team.

Eardley was drafted as a rookie after the 2011 season from East Fremantle. He has played 40 VFL games in his two seasons on the rookie list, and he also appeared twice in NAB Cup.  Eardley also played in the 2012 VFL premiership team.

“We thank both Cameron and Ryan for their time at the club and the contribution that they made,” Geelong’s general meeting of football Neil Balme said.

“They both improved during their time here and played a major role in the success of our VFL team. We wish them every success in their future football endeavours and their lives away from football. They will always be welcome at the club.”
