VFL Cats coach Mark Corrigan has credited his side for another incredible performance, as they cruised past the Dolphins on Sunday to record their fourth straight win.
Geelong now sits very comfortably in third spot on the VFL ladder with a very healthy percentage, following two big wins in a row by a combined 165 points against Frankston and Carlton.
Corrigan spoke to Cats Media following the round six clash with the Dolphins, noting some of the key performers that have sparked Geelong's strong form over the past month of football.
Lawson Humphries – 27 Disposals, 9 Marks, 3 Tackles
The young West Australian has been a star for the Cats through the first six weeks of the season, floating across half back and looking highly talented both offensively and defensively. Provided great dash out of the defensive half against Frankston amassing 27 disposals, while also picking off numerous intercept possessions throughout the game.

“Lawson Humphries has been outstanding. Coming into an AFL environment, his first six games have been super and today I thought he was fantastic. Defensively he wins contests and rarely gets beaten, but then he helps us enormously offensively. He has built a really well rounded game and he understands his role within the group.”
Oisin Mullin – 21 Disposals, 8 Marks, 3 Tackles
The Irishman hasn’t missed a beat since returning in round five, looking increasingly comfortable in his role across half back. Took off on a scintillating run down the wing to set up an Osca Riccardi goal in the second quarter, and used his pace to repel plenty of Frankston attacks deep in the Cats back half.

George Stevens – 19 Disposals, 8 Tackles, 5 Clearances
The midfield bull continues to grow in his first year with the Cats, proving to be a valuable addition in Geelong’s contested game. Racked up 19 disposals and eight tackles against Frankston, who were rated as the number one pressure team in the competition heading into round six.

Emerson Jeka – 23 Disposals, 8 Marks
The key defender has added an important layer to Geelong’s back half this season, often matched up with the opposition’s most dangerous forward. Put in another very strong performance against the Dolphins, collecting 23 disposals as the Cats held Frankston under 50 points for the game.

“Emerson Jeka has been super. He is someone who has been building his understanding of the role we want him to play. His contest work has been really good, he obviously helps us a lot from a ball movement perspective. But he is someone who has spent a little longer in the system, his consistency week to week never wavers.”
Ted Clohesy – 27 Disposals, 8 Marks, 8 Clearances, 5 Tackles
Continues to prove he is more than capable through the midfield, amassing plenty of the footy each week and another 27 disposals against Frankston. Added eight clearances and five tackles for good measure, showing his tough nature in contested situations.

Shaun Mannagh - 15 Disposals, 6 Marks, 4 Goals
Looked explosive up forward, causing Frankston headaches every time the ball entered Geelong's forward half. Finished with four goals on the day, taking his tally to nine through his opening four games for the VFL Cats.
