Chris Scott will be inducted into the Geelong Football Club Hall of Fame on Saturday night, alongside Harry Taylor and Travis Varcoe.

Across 322 games* as senior coach of the Cats, Scott has led his team to two premierships and 11 finals campaigns in a sustained run of excellence.

Passing Reg Hickey for the most games as Geelong’s senior coach in 2023, Scott has maintained an incredible 68% win rate throughout his career.

The Cats coach joined Cameron Ling and Meg McDonald on ‘To the Final Bell’ last week, noting how grateful he has been for the opportunity to lead the Geelong Football Club.

"These sorts of things are not things that I normally focus on, even as a player,” Scott said.

“It did give me a moment where I was able to think about the opportunity I was given to come to the Cats.

“I was very young, 34 when I started and that is rare.

“It is even rarer to come to an organisation that was in really good shape, normally when a club needs a new coach things aren’t going so well.

“That wasn't the case at the Cats, so I have been really grateful for the opportunity I have been given over a long period of time."

Scott took the reigns in 2011 and immediately found success, coaching the team to a Premiership in his first season at the club.

The brilliant leader continued to keep his side competitive over the next decade, before tasting more success in 2022 when the Cats won 16 straight games enroute to another flag.

The Hall of Fame induction comes on a special evening for Scott, with 2011 Premiership captain, Cameron Ling being elevated to Legend status on the same night.

Ling spoke on the instant impact Scott had on the club, as the pair combined as captain and coach to lead Geelong back to Premiership glory.

"When I retired, at the best and fairest I made a speech and I said I had no regrets about my career, but the only tiny regret was the fact I only got to have a year with Chris,” Ling said.

“I wanted more than a year with Scotty, but I cherish that year that we did get together, it was exactly what I needed, now that I reflect back.

“To get that experience with Scotty, where we worked together really well, we could talk about ideas, for the first time it felt like it was two colleagues working towards a common goal.”

Chris Scott will be inducted into the Geelong Football Club Hall of Fame on Saturday June 22, alongside Travis Varcoe and Harry Taylor while Cameron Ling will be elevated to Legend status.
