The Cats will face Carlton for the second time this season, in a Friday night blockbuster to kickstart the second half of the season.

Fresh off their bye week, Geelong enter the clash in sixth position on the ladder with an 8 – 5 record while winning two of their first three matches at the MCG.

Carlton currently sits second on the ladder, with only one game separating the two sides heading into this week.

Last Time We Met

The Cats have already clashed with the Blues once in 2024, with Geelong victorious by 13 points in a round seven nailbiter at the MCG.

Playing in front of a record home crowd (87,775), Geelong led at every change and extended the margin to 33 points midway through the last quarter, before withstanding a late surge from the Blues.

Jeremy Cameron booted five goals from 17 disposals, while Cam Guthrie (27 disposals) and Max Holmes (26 disposals & 1 goal) both found plenty of the footy.

The Venue

The MCG continues to be a happy hunting ground for the Cats, winning two of their three games at the venue this year.

Geelong has won 15 of their last 21 games at the MCG dating back to 2021, while four of their six losses have come by two goals or less.

The Cats hold the fourth best win percentage in AFL history at the ground, winning 55% of their games at the MCG from 361 matches.

Key Player

Jeremy Cameron has taken a particular liking to Carlton in recent meetings, booting 14 goals across the last three matches against the Blues.

The star forward kicked five majors from 17 disposals in the win earlier this year, while also starring in the Cats meeting with the Blues in 2023, receiving one Brownlow vote in a losing side.
