Shaun Mannagh produced a dazzling performance on the weekend in the VFL, helping lead the Cats to a win over Sandringham on Sunday afternoon.

The crafty forward booted six of the Cats’ 13 goals for the day, with each major worthy of its own highlight reel in slippery conditions at GMHBA Stadium.

But the damage didn’t stop there for Mannagh, who also spent time in the middle collecting 21 disposals, five clearances while laying 10 tackles.

Mannagh spoke to Cats Media following the clash with Sandringham, noting how he wanted to bounce back after the loss to Port Melbourne last week.

“It is a bit of a mindset thing, I missed a few games and it was my first game back last week, I was pretty disappointed in my own performance,” Mannagh said.

“It was a big week this week and I really wanted to bounce back.

“I don't mind the rain, everyone slows down to my speed which is pretty good as I get older.

“Credit to the boys, the mids did the work in there, Parfitt's first quarter was elite and Ted Clohesy worked hard all day.

“You reap the rewards as a forward on the back of their hard work.”

Mannagh has kicked a team high 23 goals from eight matches in the VFL this season, while also averaging 17 disposals per game.

It has been a whirlwind 12 months for the mature aged recruit, who was drafted by the Cats after winning best on ground in the VFL Grand Final last year in a losing team, before becoming a Dad last month.

"All credit goes to my wife at the moment, she is carrying a lot of the duties at home,” Mannagh said.

“It has been an amazing experience and something we dreamed of for a long time, so it is nice to live out both our dreams.

“I hope she can come along every week if we are going to play like that, it has been really good."

Mannagh said there was a different mindset around the club last week, which led to a very successful weekend with both the AFL and VFL team recording strong wins.

“We want to be the hunters not the hunted,” Mannagh said.

“You can get pretty bogged down when the team isn't winning, but we probably weren't getting the results we deserved across both programs.

“The focus this week was just to be positive, come in and have that mindset and the way we trained on the track this week showed in both performances this weekend.

“As Cats fans you should be ready to see that for the rest of the year, we will be hunting a lot of teams.”

Geelong responded strongly against Sandringham after their nine-game win streak was snapped the by Port Melbourne, moving them back into third position on the VFL ladder.
