Scott on Tanner Bruhn Returning from Injury

He was considered for selection, he is fit and he will play VFL footy this week.

He has missed four games, he needed surgery on his wrist but he was able to get back to running really quickly.

He is in really good running shape, we just thought it was prudent that he gets some match practice.

He has been handling the ball for quite a while and seems to be unaffected in that respect.

But again, we thought it was important that he gets some match practice, but we are optimistic that he will be available for AFL footy next week.

Scott on this week’s Team Selection

We think he Jhye has played pretty well in the AFL team, as much as anything it is about Mitch Knevitt playing really well.

He came into our team against Essendon at the MCG and played really well, was picked the following week and had to withdraw through illness that morning.

We couldn't get him back into the team the week after, he was really unlucky but he went back to the VFL and played really well to force his way back into the team.

It is much more about Knevitt than it is about Clark, but we still would love to see Jhye keep working on what he has been working on.

He has been doing it well at AFL level, but do it in a similar way to a few other guys who have gone back and played well like Shaun Mannagh and Mitch Knevitt.

He can force his way back into what is becoming a pretty competitive team to work your way into.

Scott on Winter Football in Geelong

It has been a little bit of unusual year, in that normally the scoring and attacking footy slows down the deeper you get into winter, but it has almost gone the opposite way this year.

I am not exactly sure why that is, maybe the conditions have been a little bit better but maybe it is the delayed start to those really difficult footy conditions.

It is Geelong, who knows what is going to be like other than very cold.

Scott on the Legacy of the current playing group

If you start looking too far forward or reminiscing too much, you will miss the most important bit.

We encourage our guys to embrace the idea that Leigh Matthews once said to the group that I played for, that it is always later than you think.

I think that we are in a bit of a period of transition, that has been clear to us for quite a while even going into the 2022 season.

Sometimes I think that those descriptions are brought up in a manner that suggests that you are managing expectations, that is not what we are doing at all.

We had some young players come into our team in 2022, who ended up being very important at the end of that season.

We are not trying to draw a comparison to that season, more to make the point that over the last 10 years or so we have been in a constant state of evolution.

We don't think that has slowed down in 2024, if anything it has accelerated. That is thing that makes us excited more than anything.
