The Cats midfield group put in a strong performance against Adelaide, amassing their highest clearance total of the 2024 season on Saturday afternoon.
Led by Patrick Dangerfield and Tanner Bruhn, Geelong won 53 clearances on Saturday night which eclipsed their previous season high of 51 against Brisbane.
It is also the highest clearance total the Cats have collected since round 17 in the 2022 season, playing an important role in the victory over the Crows.
The dominance was particularly noticeable around the ground, with the Cats comfortably winning stoppage clearances 40 to 22.
Dangerfield collected a game high nine clearances which is also a season high for the Geelong skipper, while Tanner Bruhn was not far behind winning eight clearances of his own.
Tom Stewart, Shaun Mannagh and Mark Blicavs all collected five clearances each to further add to the Cats strong performance through the middle.
It also proved to be the best clearance differential for Geelong this season, finishing with 20 more (53-33) than the Crows which beats their previous biggest differential (+7) in 2024.
The strong performance from the Cats on-ball division propelled the team to an important win, staying well within striking distance of the top four with three games remaining.
Geelong are back in action next Saturday as they prepare to head West, taking on Fremantle at Optus Stadium.
