Lowther on the Match Simulation Takeaways

Summing it up I think we were a little bit rusty to be fair, but really happy that we got through with a positive result towards the end.

It took us a little while to get going in the first half, just to acclimatise again to the speed and intensity of what is required.

Once we did, I was happy with the effort the girls produced.

We ran a lot of numbers through different positions.

We had a couple of girls come off sore which threw our regular players into areas they haven't played much before, but they responded really well.

All in all it was a very positive day out for us.

Lowther on the Cats New Recruits

Bryde O'Rourke came on and played on the wing, she did some really good things for us. She showed some of her speed and kicked a nice goal which was positive.

Bella Smith tried really hard inside, to support our midfielders.

Kate Kenny showed something, it will take a little while for her to connect with the group and the speed of the game. But certainly when the ball is in her space she showed enough to suggest she is going to be pretty dangerous as well.

Chantal Mason had a chance here and there as well, Lilly Pearce got a bit of a knock to the neck the poor thing and Caitlin Thorne did okay supporting the inside midfielders as well.

Again there was a bit of rust, but to be able to play against quality opposition who were near full strength is a real positive.

Lowther on the Importance of Warm Up Matches

These games are super important, even for us as coaches as well to make sure our pre game and game day structures are ready, today was a nice little practice for that.

We play against the Bombers next week, we will pick our most probable side for round one.

Today's learnings are really good to take into this week at training and to prepare for Essendon.

We will tweak a few things, but I think our off season and pre season planning has led us into a good position.

Lowther on the Cats Supporters

There is nothing like getting on the train early I would have thought.

We are expecting an optimistic season and there is nothing better than the crowd at GMHBA Stadium.

The home game, round one against the Demons it would be exceptional to get a big crowd there.

Get on board and support the Geelong Football Club as a whole, I think it is really important.
