Chris Scott spoke to the media ahead of Geelong’s clash with St Kilda on Saturday night.
See the top moments below.
Scott on the challenges at the end of a season
It is always a challenge.
I can't think of any time in 14 years at Geelong where you think that everything is going perfectly, there is always challenges that pop up.
That is the way we are thinking about this week, we have a lot of respect for this team.
I think I have said it in relation to other teams in the competition, virtually every team we have played have had moments in the year where they look like a finals team, but they had a patch in the season where things didn't go well.
We are at the stage of the season where we are trying to fine tune our game as much as possible, but we need to because the opposition are good.
Scott on the difference between 2024 and 2023
We are in a completely different stage this year to last year.
We are physically in good shape, feel like our game is in good shape, not perfect but nobody is.
We played St Kilda last in round one and that feels like a long time ago, so we are trying to be a little more in the moment with what is in front of us.
I could talk you through all the ways which I think we have improved over the last 12 months, but that would make for a long press conference.
Scott on Dangerfield’s strong form
We need to be thoughtful about how we manage him, and that has been going for a few years.
Our strategy with some of our more experienced players and Pat is a good example, is to not set it up expecting him to be at his best for 26 weeks straight, it just doesn't work like that.
In that context we feel like he is in really good shape now to play his best footy towards the end of the year.
A lot of work goes into that, so his form doesn't surprise me in that respect.
Scott on the team management heading towards September
It is always hard to predict in a way, but there are always things that pop up during a week that mean you have to adjust on the run.
In a perfect world you sit there and think with the pre finals bye, not many guys need two weeks off in a row.
I think Sam De Koning is a good example, we will have to think about how we prepare him for the last round of the season.
I think there are scenarios where it is not absolutely compulsory that we push guys to play that game, to be available for finals.
