Webster on the takeaways from Week 1

Within the four walls we aren't thinking that we lost last weekend, so we really have to win this week to feel like we are on the mark.

We rate our success on our performance and the way we played on the weekend was up there with some of our best footy, we are only going to get better.

Regardless of the result on the previous weekend, we can go into each week of the season knowing that our best footy can beat anyone.

It is going to set us up for the season no matter the result, but we rate our performance on how we play on the weekend and that is all we can measure.

Tackle Highlights | AFLW Week 1

The Cats did everything they could in Week 1 of our AFLW season, applying plenty of pressure to the Dees on the night.

Webster on Zali Friswell's strong performance

Zali came in as a young little 18 year old, she actually lived with me for a little bit so to watch her grow and her performance on the weekend was great for her.

She plays that wing role so well, to win some contested footy on the outside was great.

That maturity is growing each season, she is going to be a class act for us across the rest of the season. 

Webster on this week's clash with the Kangaroos

They looked very good against Brisbane. We play against North almost every year and we are always champing at the bit to get them.

I know our best footy can beat them, we are really excited to play them early on in the season to show that pressure we are capable of.

They have some really classy midfielders alongside King in the ruck, I am sure we will chat with Dan during the week about how we can nullify that.

But we still want to play our brand of football too, we are eager for the challenge.

Webster on how the team builds throughout a season

I think if you are hitting your straps and playing your best football this time of year, it is hard to sustain for a full season.

When you get to Finals, that is when you want to be playing your best footy.

You pick up and learn things along the way, I know it is such a short season but our best footy is yet to come.

That is exciting as well to know that we went out on the weekend and played some good football, so the best is yet to come and we definitely aren't thinking about Finals in Week 1 of the season.
