Lowther on the takeaways from Week 3

Everything went wrong for us today.

It is not to discount Carlton, they came out and smacked us between the eyes with their intent from the start, their contest method and their cleanliness around the ground was far superior to our girls today.

I thought coming into the game today coming off two close games that our form would keep stepping in the right direction, but clearly if you don't bring the right intent they really show you how important that is.

Lowther on how the Cats can bounce back

Off to the Gold Coast next week, that might be a really good opportunity for us to hang at the airport and have a good time together to heal some of the wounds from today.

We need to turn it out around quickly after an honourable loss, a draw and another loss.

We need to make sure we are priming for a win, I don't think we need to go reaching or searching for it we just need to make sure we go back to our fundamentals

Lowther on the learnings from the Carlton clash

I think Carlton handled the day better for sure.

We came in with a plan in place, knowing that Carlton have strengths and weaknesses just like every team. They came out and dictated the number one rule of the game, which is hunt the footy and be stronger where it counts the most.

We just couldn't respond to it at the right time, the ball was played in our back half for far too long and the conditions then added to that.

Just one of those days.

Lowther on navigating the ruck situation

We just need to be creative with our tall stocks.

Obviously we haven't got that many on our list at the moment, so with Kate Darby rucking it is a good chance for Gabbi Featherston to come in and use her power.

She has a lot of spring in her step, she plays high and then when the ball is on the ground she is an extra mid. Her power around stoppages and around contests is really important, we are trying it to see how she goes.

The first two rounds she did really well to support Kate in the ruck, it is something we will persist with.
