An incredible milestone awaits on Saturday for a classy player, with Shelley Scott set to become just the 23rd player in AFLW history to reach 75 career games.
It has been a remarkable journey across nine seasons for Scott, who started her career at Melbourne before joining Geelong via trade in 2022.
Arriving at the Cats alongside Jackie Parry, Scott has been a strong leader both on and off the field and continues to be a strong contributor in Geelong’s forward half.
Scott’s career commenced at the end of 2016, when Melbourne selected her with the 41st pick in the AFLW national draft.
Looking to make an impact right away, the reliable forward debuted in the opening round of the 2017 season against Brisbane and immediately cemented her spot in the starting line-up.
Over the next six seasons Scott played 49 games for the Demons, featuring in three Finals and an AFLW Grand Final, while also becoming a co-captain in 2019.
But every good story has a twist and for Scott it came in 2022, when she was traded to Geelong alongside Jackie Parry in exchange for Jordan Ivey and pick 51.
Making her club debut in the opening round of the AFLW’s season seven, Scott became a reliable asset down forward booting nine goals in her first year with the Cats.
Scott also played a part in Geelong’s run to a Preliminary Final in 2023, impacting the scoreboard in both the Semi and Preliminary Finals at crucial moments of both games.
Heading into 2024 Scott has shown no signs of slowing down, booting six goals across her last four games including a three-goal haul against Gold Coast in Week 4.
It all equates to a phenomenal career across nine seasons, with Scott set to become just the 23rd player in AFLW history to reach 75 games.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster for Geelong’s clash with Richmond on Saturday afternoon.
