Geelong are set to take on Brisbane in an exciting Week 8 clash at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday afternoon.  

The Cats will be looking to bounce back after falling narrowly short last weekend, in a thrilling clash with Richmond at the Swinburne Centre. 

This week's challenge will be no easier, with Brisbane currently sitting near the top of the ladder with seven wins from eight games in 2024.

Last Time We Met

The last meeting between Geelong and Brisbane came in the 2023 Preliminary Final, an enthralling contest that finished in a heartbreaking four point loss for the Cats. 

Aishling Moloney put Geelong in front early in the final term, but they could not hang on with the Lions booting the last goal of the game to secure a spot in the AFLW Grand Final.

Georgie Prespakis led the way with 21 disposals and six clearances, Nina Morrison was equally as dominant with 20 disposals and nine clearances, while Jackie Parry booted two important goals.

Player to Watch

Geelong are set to showcase more of their emerging talent with exciting young forward, Chantal Mason to make her AFLW debut on Sunday. 

Mason was drafted out of the Geelong Falcons in 2023, a key position forward with a strong set of hands and impressive goal sense. 

In the Coates Talent League, Mason booted 31 goals in 13 regular season games, winning the leading goal kicker award.
