Week 8 will see Geelong unleash another exciting youngster, with Chantal Mason set to make her AFLW debut on Sunday against Brisbane.

A talented key forward with a strong set of hands and elite goal sense, Mason will provide the Cats another reliable target in their front half this weekend.

Mason was selected by Geelong with their first pick (18) in the 2023 AFLW draft, following a standout season for the Geelong Falcons in the Coates Talent League.

The key forward booted 34 goals across 15 games and was named in the Coates Talent League Girls Team of the Year.

Mason managed a seven-goal haul against the Bendigo Pioneers and a bag of six majors against the Tasmania Devils, showing her match-winning potential.

Arriving at the Club earlier this year, Mason spent valuable time with Geelong's VFLW team to get acquainted with the Cats system heading into the AFLW season.

Across eight games the spearhead booted eight goals, highlighted by a dominant performance in round six where she collected 18 disposals and kicked three goals against North Melbourne.

Mason spoke to media earlier in the year, touching on the experience with the VFLW Cats and how it prepared her to take the next step.

"I played the opening eight rounds with the VFLW, which was a great experience and so good to adapt and adjust to the higher level,” Mason said.

“As a taller player I want to work on my skills when the ball hits the ground, but I think that has been something I have been working on for the past few years.

“Focusing on my tackle pressure and defensive efforts, I am always trying to ramp those up which is something I worked on at VFL level too.”

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster for Sunday's big clash, with Geelong taking on Brisbane at GMHBA Stadium this Sunday at 1.05pm AEDT.
