The Geelong Football Club has confirmed initial list changes to its AFLW playing squad.
Brooke Plummer, Abbey McDonald and Lilly Pearce have been informed they will not be offered contracts for 2025.
Drafted ahead of AFLW Season 7, Plummer and McDonald both played eight games at AFLW level for the Cats, with the pair featuring three and four times respectively in 2024.
Plummer and McDonald played the last three seasons at VFLW level for the Cats, with Plummer playing 13 games, with McDonald playing 14.
Joining as a replacement player for the 2024 AFLW Season, Pearce unfortunately sustained an ACL injury at training in September, which ruled her out for the 2024 season.
“This time of year is never easy and to farewell great teammates is always a difficult decision,” Geelong Cats Assistant General Manager of Football Brett Johnson said.
“All players in their time here at the Geelong can be proud of the way they have conducted themselves and all have been incredible contributors to our program.
“We thank Abbey, Brooke and Lilly for their contribution, and we wish them all the best in their next chapter.”
The Club today can also confirm that Irish defender Anna-Rose Kennedy will return home to Ireland for the entirety of the 2025 season.
After a breakout campaign in 2024, Kennedy has made the decision to return home to Ireland for personal reasons.
Johnson said the Club will give Kennedy the option and flexibility to return to the Cats after some time back home.
“While it is unfortunate for us and our football program to farewell Anna-Rose, we acknowledge the massive sacrifice that all Irish players make to play in Australia. On behalf of the Club, we would like to wish her all the best in the future and the next stage of her life and career.”
The Club will acknowledge all departing players at Geelong’s 2024 AFLW Best and Fairest night on November 16. Tickets are available here.
