The AFL has confirmed that Thursday Night Football will feature in 23 matches during the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, with Geelong locked in to play three Thursday night games up until Round 16.
For the first time Thursday Night matches will be played in each of the first 16 weeks of matches (Opening Round, Rounds 1 through 15), as well as for a further seven rounds in the second half of the floating fixture.
Fifteen of the 18 Clubs will play in a Thursday night fixture in the first 16 weeks, kicking off with the Opening Round match-up between Brisbane and Geelong before the traditional clash between Carlton and Richmond at the MCG in Round One.
The Cats will feature on Thursday night football three times in the opening half of the season, up until round 16.
Across the first 16 weeks Essendon will play in four Thursday night match ups, while Geelong, Carlton, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Brisbane and the Western Bulldogs will play in three.
Marvel Stadium and The MCG will host four matches, with the Gabba set for three Thursday night match ups, Optus Stadium to host two and the Adelaide Oval one.
AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said it was great to be able increase Thursday night football matches next season.
“There has been a strong desire from fans and our broadcast partners for more Thursday night football and we are excited to be able to deliver in spades next season,” said Mr Dillon.
“Fans will be able to take in a total of 23 games of Thursday night football next season, which is more than there has ever been.”
