The AFL has announced the 2025 AAMI Community Series fixtures with the Cats set to host Essendon at GMHBA Stadium on Tuesday 25 February at 7.10pm AEDT.

The Cats will be the first of nine games to be played between 25 February and 2 March, with games at venues across the country with all Club members and kids able to attend matches for free.

It will mark the second straight year and the third time in five years that Geelong and Essendon have met in a practice match, with the two sides also set to square off in round 22 at GMHBA Stadium. 

The AAMI Community Series Matches will take on the following format:

  • Four quarters of 20 mins plus time on (as per AFL Premiership Season)
  • Squad of 30 players, eight interchange and four Emergencies. Minimum of
  • Four players on the Interchange Bench during the match at any time.
  • No interchange Cap
  • Full panel of umpires appointed by the AFL.

All AAMI Community Series matches will be broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo and will be ticked for fans to attend.

AFL Head of Strategy and Scheduling Josh Bowler said:

“We are pleased to confirm the AAMI Community Series matches as we build towards another exciting season,” Bowler said.

“The 2025 AAMI Community Series is a great opportunity for fans to get their first look at their teams for the season. We’re looking forward to seeing thousands of supporters get behind their clubs in what will be a great spectacle for the whole family.”

Tickets for the AAMI Community Series will go on sale in February with further information to be communicated in January. Geelong’s full 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture was announced in November, with the Cats set to kick off the season when they take on Brisbane in a Thursday night clash at the Gabba.
