Considered by many to be one of the competition's best small forwards, Tyson Stengle will add another string to his bow next weekend as he features for the AFL's Indigenous All Stars squad.
Announced yesterday, Stengle and Cats teammate, Lawson Humphries will represent the Indigenous All Stars in a special match against the Fremantle Dockers, set to take place on the 15th of February.
It is welcome reward for Stengle who has consistently starred for the Cats over the past three seasons, booting 126 goals from 69 games in the Hoops.
The gun forward has amassed a number of accolades since joining Geelong, including a Premiership and an All Australian blazer, but Stengle said this achievement means a lot to him.
"It is a great honour," Stengle told Cats Media.
"It is good to get picked for the All Stars, I know a few of the boys from around the league that are playing in it as well. It is going to be great to go over to Perth and take on Fremantle.
"I played with Shai Bolton when I first got drafted at Richmond, so it will be good to see him.
"It is great to see Lawson get picked also, he is a fantastic player and it will be great for us to go over there and play. I am looking forward to it."
The Indigenous All Stars match will be the first official hit-out for Stengle and Humphries in 2025, before the pair will feature for the Cats in two practice matches prior to the start of the AFL season.
Geelong are set to take on Hawthorn in a match simulation on the 17th of February, before welcoming Essendon to GMHBA Stadium for their AAMI Community Series clash on the 25th.
An intriguing aspect of the 2025 season will be seeing how the Cats forward line can take their game to new heights, with some exciting off-season additions set to add a new dynamic throughout the year.
Stengle said the focus during pre-season has been about building on what the forward line did last year, looking to add new aspects to their game to carry the Cats further in their 2025 campaign.
"It has been a good pre-season, it is always tough but we are getting towards the end of it now and heading into game mode," Stengle said.
"I am looking forward to that and getting through training, looking forward to the season and hopefully we can start off well this year. We have got a few players that have come in and a few young players that are stepping up.
"I think the forward line was really good last year towards the end, but over this pre-season we are trying to build on that.
"We are trying to build our chemistry and connection even more, so hopefully this year we can take it to another level."
