Entering the 14th year of his AFL career, Jeremy Cameron has enough experience under his belt to understand the highs and lows of football.
The Cats 2024 season came to an end at the hands of Brisbane, falling narrowly short in a heartbreaking Preliminary Final loss at the MCG.
But Geelong will not have to wait long to have another crack at the reigning premiers, set to head to the Gabba for a blockbuster Opening Round clash next Thursday.
Cameron said the loss to the Lions certainly hurt, but the team is ready to put that in the rearview mirror and start 2025 on a positive note.
"It stung at the time definitely and I think it always will, but I am old enough to know what to do with it now," Cameron said.
"I put it behind me pretty quickly, coming back as fit as I possibly could be and working hard over the off-season. I wanted to come back in the best shape I could to hopefully improve on my season, to help the club improve as well.
"It is probably just a bigger picture approach to that, but we look forward to the challenge in the Opening Round.
"We know they are a really good team, the best team off the back of last year and it is going to show us where we are at."
Cameron is coming off another sensational season, finishing with 64 goals for the year and securing a fourth All Australian blazer.
Along with his All Australian selections, Cameron also has a Coleman Medal, a Premiership, a Carji Greeves Medal and numerous other awards across his career.
Despite the incredible resume, the spearhead still believes there is plenty of room for improvement as he heads into 2025.
"I think I can always improve on everything," Cameron said.
I thought i was pretty inaccurate last year, and sort of floated in and out of games at times.
"It is never going to be perfect, I play a lot of golf and it is like that, you never play a perfect round. It is always frustrating, there is always a missed putt or something you can improve on.
"I look at it that way, gelling with Shannon Neale and the other guys up there is always an area for improvement."
