Scott on his hopes for 2025

We analyse it more than you might think, there is some part that is media driven but trying to work out where you are in the competition is important to us.

It is important for a lot of decisions you have to make, it is important for list management as well.

Unfortunately our analysis is pretty similar to everyone else, I am optimistic that our best is as good as anyone's but our worst isn't much worse than the next worst.

We are optimistic, there may come a time where we have to prioritise the longer term over this year, but its not now.

Scott on preparing for round one

One of the keys to being a successful operation, which we obviously aspire to be is handling things when they aren't going perfectly.

It is more when you get little hiccups or curveballs where you need to adjust, then it becomes a matter of how well you can do it.

If last week is the biggest hiccup that we have to deal with throughout the year, we will be going okay.

We think our preparation has been good, a little different to what we had planned out longer term but good none the less.

Scott on the weather forecast for Saturday

When the AFL fixture a game in Queensland for early March, you know from October that you need to prepare for hot conditions.

It is slightly unusual for an AFL game down in Melbourne to be played in those conditions, but not something that we weren't prepared for.

We try not to plan our pre-season thinking that round one is the Grand Final, but it can feel like through the off-season.

There is a big build up to the first game, there is plenty of unknowns, the season is starting earlier and there are some fixture quirks that weren't there a couple of years ago.

Scott on the ruck plans

If you look at it in theory, Connor O'Sullivan is 198cm so he is taller than someone like a Jake Kolodjashnij.

We think in that specific part of the ground, we are actually better off and we don't think it throws out the balance of the team too much.

Luke Jackson is a great player and that is a challenge for any team, they also have Reidy and they seem to have a lot of faith in him.

We are really optimistic about the sort of player that Sam De Koning can be up the ground.
