Cats aim to pounce early
Cats TV caught up with James Kelly and Scott Gullan to discuss this week's clash against the Crows on Argue the Toss
Cats TV discuss this week’s clash between the Cats and the Crows with James Kelly and journalist Scott Gullan on Argue the Toss.
Last time Geelong and Adelaide came face-to-face at AAMI Stadium the Crows took over the show by 50 points.
This time around the Cats will be ready to pounce before the Crows can take flight.
“I think we have to start well, it’s something with interstate trips that you always have to do, you have to start well and try and get the crowd out of it.”
“We just want to keep playing the really good defensive footy that we’ve been playing.”
After last year’s poor performance, Kelly admits that Geelong are preparing to reclaim the game they lost during round 7 last year, and they know exactly what they need to do to retrieve it.
“We just have to go out and attack the game, and as you said it wasn’t that great for us last year and we feel we owe them one a little bit, and we’ll be going over there to play our best footy,” Kelly said.
Gullan believes Adelaide are on the downslide and can’t see them being able to repeat last year’s victory, although the Crows will benefit from some inside information from their senior coach, Brenton Sanderson, who was a defender at Geelong for 10 years.
“Brenton Sanderson knows Geelong really well so he’ll match up players and do things that other coaches wouldn’t get, but Adelaide are about to fall off the cliff unfortunately, so if Geelong bring it in early I think they’ll get right on top,” Gullan said.
