We take a look at which players are in the selection mix for our round 22 match against Fremantle at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.
Ryan Abbott (12 disposals, two marks, 21 hitouts)
A calf strain to Rhys Stanley has potentially opened the door for Abbott to return for his second AFL game. Was impressive on debut with 27 hitouts and two goals. A big chance now to cement his spot in the final two rounds for finals if Geelong make it.
Jed Bews
After missing last week with a shoulder injury, Bews will be given every opportunity to prove his fitness to make a return against Fremantle.
Jackson Thurlow (26 disposals, five marks, five rebounds)
One of Geelong’s best after being omitted from the seniors after one week. 26 disposals in a dominant display down back, Thurlow could return to add some classy ball use off the half back line.
Jordan Cunico (22 disposals, four marks, two tackles)
In tough conditions, Cunico was one of the cleaner players on the ground in the Cats 28-point win over Essendon in the VFL. A big chance to make a return to the senior side as he adds some outside speed to the Cats midfield.
Jamaine Jones (18 disposals, four tackles, one goal)
The pressure forward is staking a claim for a late season return. Applies forward pressure in spades and is an opportunist in front of goals. Adds another dimension to the Cats forward line in the absence of Cockatoo, Gregson and McCarthy.
Harry Taylor (eight disposals, two marks, one goal)
Made a return to the VFL last week after a lengthy layoff with his troublesome foot. Just the eight disposals and one goal on a wet and slippery night. A chance to return against Fremantle to add some experience up forward or down back for the Cats.
