Harry Taylor has never played less than 21 games in a season – he now understands why other players say rehab is painful and laborious.
Speaking to K-rock Football, Taylor spoke about what it was like to go through rehabilitation for the first time in his career.
“I’ve never been in rehab before, so it’s the first time I’ve actually got to experience what rehabs like and it’s a part of footy that I now have a better understanding of,” said Taylor.
In Chris Scott’s press conference last week, the Cats’ coach said that he expects Taylor to play at some level this week.
Taylor injured his foot in the round one win over Melbourne, partially tearing his plantar fascia. He admitted on K-rock Football that he had some signs that pointed towards the injury during the pre-season, but not to a point where it stopped him.
“What I’ve done is just a matter of loading it, so early days, keeping the weight off it as much as possible, so getting around on one of these high tech little scooters. But once you do get up and going, it’s a matter of just putting load through it.”
“It’s just a matter of loading it appropriately to strengthen it,” he said.
Taylor said he would like to see the length of the pre-season cut down given the current loading on the players.
“I’d like to see some changes made to the pre-season,” he said.
“I was fortunate enough to come back in January and people might say that this has affected me in terms of injury, I would absolutely disagree with that.”
The Cats will travel to the MCG on Sunday to play Collingwood.
