The final home-and-away match for Geelong’s VFLW side has left a lot to be played for, with a top two finish up for grabs.

The Cats face Hawthorn for the first time this season on Saturday in a battle between the third and fourth placed teams. A win for either side will guarantee second spot on the ladder and an important double chance in the finals.

It is still possible for Geelong to finish as minor premiers, if current ladder-leaders Collingwood lose their final match and the Cats make up percentage in a win over the Hawks.

Should the Cats lose on Saturday a place in the top four still awaits Geelong, who are determined to make their mark in their inaugural VFLW finals series.

The top four sides are locked in with Geelong joined by Collingwood, Hawthorn and the Northern Territory Thunder, who are ready to compete for their first ever VFLW premiership.

Regardless of who they face in the finals, the Cats will be prepared for strong competition, after drawing with Collingwood in round two and a round nine loss to the NT Thunder in humid Darwin conditions.

With Geelong AFLW signings Rocky Cranston, Kate Darby and Bec Goring among the players having impressive seasons in the blue and white hoops, the Cats are well and truly in premiership contention.

Geelong will play Hawthorn at Box Hill City Oval this Saturday at 11:30am in their round 16 match.
