Geelong’s Aaron Black will undergo surgery next week after specialists confirmed a rupture to his anterior cruciate ligament.

Black suffered a hyperextension of the knee when landing in a marking contest in the third quarter of Saturday’s win over North Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium.

“We are all saddened with the confirmation of Aaron’s ACL injury. This is a disappointing result particularly after finding continuity in his football in recent weeks,” Geelong’s General Manager of Football Simon Lloyd said.

“Aaron is a popular clubman, respected by his teammates and coaches and an all-round great person to have around our club.

“The club will provide all the support possible to Aaron over the coming weeks and a rehab plan will be put in place once surgery is completed next week.”

The 27-year-old has played 57 AFL games, seven games for the Cats since debuting in the blue and white in round 5, 2017.
