King on The Initial Fixture Takeaways
It is a great fixture for us.
From a football point of view, it is very fair. Only six interstate games, and a good spread of those travels.
The opponent mix is very reasonable.
Then from a fan and commercial point of view, it is also very strong with the mix of teams that we have got down here and in Melbourne.
King on The 10 Games at GMHBA Stadium
To touch on the 10 games at GMHBA Stadium which is an amazing outcome for the club, it is the first time since 1996 we have had that number of games here.
It is a credit to the club, to the stadium and the investment in that stadium by Governments and others, that we can now attract 10 games with a 40,000 capacity stadium.
Within those 10 games there is a great mix.
We have big clubs like Essendon and Richmond, we have big matchups against the Bulldogs on a Thursday night, Melbourne on a Friday night, St Kilda later in the year.
It is a strong mix of opponents, and a really good mix of time slots.
King on The Cats in Prime Time Games
It is an honour and all of us should be really proud that we have been chosen to feature in the first game of the season.
I can't recall when the club was last in the opening game of the season, so it is pretty special.
It is a rematch of the preliminary final, so hopefully we can get a bit of revenge there.
We are also kicking off gather round on a Thursday night against Adelaide, again we are on broadway and it is a credit to the club that we are in these feature games.
King on the Seven Melbourne Games
For us it was really important that with the extra home game in Geelong, that we still had a really strong fixture of games in Melbourne.
We are conscious that a lot of our fans live in Melbourne and surrounding suburbs, so to still have seven games there is an excellent outcome.
Five at the MCG, the Easter Monday clash is a real blockbuster and that is our home game.
We also follow on from that with games against Carlton, Collingwood and others so it is a very strong mix for our Melbourne fans.
