GEELONG defender Jed Bews says that his low-profile in the eyes of commentary teams and the football public is just fine by him.

Bews told the Geelong Advertiser that the he doesn’t mind his teammates redirecting the attention, given that his focus is just on playing good footy.

“I don’t mind slipping under the radar, that’s all right by me,” Bews said.

“I probably started off all right and then had a couple of quiet weeks but the last couple of weeks I think I’ve been better.

“You always want to play better, you’re never really satisfied, but I think I’ve been OK this year.”

Bews says the flexibility of the defensive unit will help the Cats match up against the Bulldogs come Friday night.

“The way we’re playing, our system in defence is going pretty well, but there is no one who gets locked into one specific player,” he said.

“It is more playing together and helping each other out as much as you can and really playing together.

“I don’t think we have to change too much (for Friday), but I have a look at all the small forwards and even the talls because there are times when you get stuck on those bigger guys and you have to create a contest, so it is just about doing your research across all of them each week and working out what they do well and how you can counteract that.”
