Lincoln McCarthy appears likely to return for Saturday's match against Greater Western Sydney at Simonds Stadium.
The speedy small forward, who has been sidelined since featuring in the win over West Coast in round seven, showed no signs of his hip flexor problem when he trained strongly at Simonds Stadium on Tuesday.
"Linc is improving steadily," Cats physio Mark Young said on the round 11 episode of nib Medical Room.
"We've set him a few goals on the track today and he's achieved those."
"So, really, he's got to back that up on Thursday's main training and then we'll go from there."
The latest episode of nib Medical Room also features updates on:
* Rhys Stanley (foot)
* Mitch Clark (calf - coming back via the VFL on Sunday)
* Sam Menegola (knee - coming back via the VFL on Sunday)
* Zac Bates (shoulder - coming back via the VFL on Sunday)
