Geelong has selected a youthful squad to take on the Gold Coast Suns in Townsville on Sunday in their first JLT Series game.

After showing plenty of promise in the AFLX Adelaide tournament, new recruits Tim Kelly, Lachie Fogarty and Gryan Miers will all get another opportunity against the Suns. Fellow 2017 draftee Charlie Constable has also been named in the Cats squad.

Geelong will trim its squad down from 30 to a starting 18, eight interchange and four emergencies on Friday.

Other highlights of the Cats squad include Cory Gregson who will have his first competitive hitout in over 18 months, young key forwards Esava Ratugolea and Wylie Buzza as well as up-and-coming small forward Jamaine Jones.

Mitch Duncan will captain the side in the absence of Joel Selwood and Harry Taylor.

The Cats and Suns game will be telecast on Fox Footy at 3.35pm local time (4.35pm VIC).
