The coaches have given Cats skipper Joel Selwood the nod as best on ground in Friday night's epic qualifying win over Hawthorn.
Selwood polled eight votes, while Mark Blicavs, Cameron Guthrie and Patrick Dangerfield were the other Geelong players to feature in the voting.
Jordan Lewis, Shaun Burgoyne and Luke Breust were the Hawthorn players to feature.
The player who polls the most votes during the finals will win the inaugural Gary Ayres Award.
The AFL Coaches' Association has minted the new award for the player of the finals series, based on the voting system used for the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award during the season.
Three players received perfect 10s after the opening round of finals matches.
Adelaide superstar Eddie Betts, Greater Western Sydney forward Jeremy Cameron, young Western Bulldogs star Caleb Daniel all received top votes from the competing coaches in their matches.
The award will be presented on the Monday following the Grand Final.
