At the peak of the Cats and Hawks rivalry, Selwood took over a bitterly contested slugfest and dragged his team across the line. Amassing 42 disposals and laying 11 tackles, a young Selwood collected three Brownlow votes on a thrilling afternoon of football.
Round 5, 2017, Etihad Stadium:

In a game in which Geelong trailed at both half time and the final change, Selwood was simply immense. Our skipper found the ball 16 times in the premiership quarter to keep the Cats in touch before Geelong roared home in the final stanza. The Cats overcame a five-point deficit to thump the Saints by 38 points as Selwood equalled his career high in disposals (43), laid nine tackles and polled three Brownlow votes.
Preliminary Final, 2016, MCG:
Geelong 8.12 (60) def by. Sydney 15.7 (97)
Big stage, big performance. Although Geelong were comprehensively beaten by the Swans in the 2016 preliminary final, there is no denying Selwood’s herculean effort. The Cats’ captain did everything possible for Geelong, recording a career-high 13 tackles to go with 39 disposals.
Round 19, 2011, Simonds Stadium:

Simonds Stadium was the scene of a record-breaking rampage in round 19, 2011, as the Cats recorded their biggest win in team history and Joel his career-high in disposals. Selwood collected 43 disposals and laid 11 crunching tackles as Geelong ran-riot against a hapless Dees and Selwood snagged the best on ground honours.
Grand Final, 2011, MCG:

On the AFL’s most holy day, Selwood delivered the Cats a third premiership in five years with emphatic all-round performance. Selwood finished second in Norm Smith voting to teammate Jimmy Bartel as the skipper led all Cats with 28 disposals on the day. He also landed seven tackles to go with eight clearances and two goals as Geelong triumphed over the Pies by 38 points.
