We take a look at which Cats are in the selection mix ahead of our round seven match against the Giants on Friday.
Zac Smith (15 disposals, 38 hit-outs, one goal, one behind)
Was a standout in Geelong’s VFL win over Casey as he gave the VFL side first use all night. Smith copped a knock to his left shoulder, although it didn’t seem too significant as he played on.
Timm House (29 disposals, six marks, 12 rebound 50s)
Another dominant performance down back against Casey will have House at the top of the list for possible inclusions this week. House set up many attacking forays for the Cats, while being the rock in defence and stopping many of Casey’s inside 50s.
Stewart Crameri (22 disposals, one goal, three behinds)
Crameri’s running ability was on show in the VFL with his work pushing up in between the arcs a feature of his game. Was part of many transitions by the Cats and his class around goals was prominent with a classy snap early in the game. Will add more fire power up forward if he makes his Geelong debut.
Charlie Constable (26 disposals, six tackles)
Another solid performance for the youngster with 26 disposals and six tackles. His first month of VFL football has been excellent and would be closing in on a debut. Can it be this week?
Gary Ablett
Ablett will be pushing to return against GWS, in what would be a big boost for the on-ball unit at the Cats after being beaten in this area against the Swans.
Scott Selwood
A late withdrawal due to the effects of his head knock against Port Adelaide. Will give Geelong the much-needed hard edge against GWS if he returns.
Daniel Menzel
Didn’t play against the Swans due to groin soreness, but most would think that he will return for the crucial clash against GWS. Menzel is the leading goal kicker this year with 15 majors.
