PATRICK Dangerfield's heroics against Sydney have helped him grab a share of the lead in the Gary Ayres Award for the best finals player in the eyes of the coaches.
The superstar Cat was superb up forward early, with his four-goal effort earning him the maximum 10 votes to now sit equal top of the leaderboard with Swan Josh Kennedy, Eagle Luke Shuey and Giant Callan Ward.
In the other semi-final, Stephen Coniglio earned eight votes against the Eagles to edge out teammate Steve Johnson, whose six goals saw him rewarded with seven votes.
Every round, the AFL coaches vote for the best players from their game. The coaches vote for five players, giving them a mark from 1-5. The maximum a player can score is 10 (with five votes from both coaches).
