A fit and firing Harry Taylor is ready to put his best foot forward and leave an injury interrupted 2018 behind him.
The 32-year-old appears to have discovered the fountain of youth in his twelfth pre-season at AFL level, with teammate Patrick Dangerfield saying Taylor is in some formidable nick this pre-season.
“He’s in probably the best shape I’ve seen him in since I’ve been at Geelong to be honest,” Dangerfield told Cats Media.
“That’s not to say he hasn’t been in great shape in previous pre-seasons but he’s looking like an absolute mountain at the moment.”
“He’s fit, he’s determined and he’s got a point to prove I think – he looks fantastic,”
Taylor managed just eight games in 2018 after injuring his plantar fascia in the Cats’ round one clash against the Demons.
It was the first time the reliable Geelong swingman has played less than 21 games in his 11 seasons of AFL football.
Assistant coach Matthew Scarlett told the Geelong Advertiser that both Taylor and Lachie Henderson had impressed on the track.
“Harry has come back in really good condition and so has Hendo, who had a horror pre-season last year with his knee injury,” Scarlett said.
“Those guys (Taylor and Henderson) will be down back and they have spent the whole pre-season training as defenders,” he said.
“Things can change with injuries and we know Harry can go forward and play a role there, and Hendo has done that as well, but hopefully we stay healthy in the front end.”
