SYDNEY speedster Gary Rohan is looking increasingly likely to wear the hoops next year, with Swans football manager Tom Harley confirming a potential move to Geelong is already being discussed.

Rohan, who played for the Geelong Falcons prior to being drafted, is keen to return home after a challenging year during which one of his twin daughters passed away just hours after being born.

Harley told NAB AFL Trade Radio that the Swans willingness to make the move springs from their duty of care for Rohan as a player.

"Clearly Gary's personal circumstances are well told and well known. I think you take that into consideration," Harley said.

"Gary and his wife Amie have had some clear challenges and if we can provide an opportunity for them to move back closer to family support so then Gary can play some good footy, then we'll look to do that."

"We're confident that we can make that work. That's the human side of football, isn't it," Harley said.

The Swans football manager said the relationship between the club and Stephen Wells would help facilitate a move.

"You also take into consideration what's best for your footy club and what Geelong might be able to offer up in return."

“We’re fortunate with the situation that our list manager Kinnear Beatson and Stephen Wells Geelong’s list manager have a really good relationship – the way they conduct their business is first class.”

Rohan’s manager Nick Gieschen confirmed the 27-year-old Swan would be at one of two clubs next year.

"If Gary leaves Sydney it will be for Geelong. He's got family down there and that's where he's from,” Gieschen said.

"Sydney is aware of Gary's desire to get home and they're obviously keen to facilitate something with Geelong too.

"Both parties are in discussions at the moment. I'm pretty confident something will get done."
