The Cats have recorded a new membership record today, reaching 52,198 for the first time in club history.
The club’s current 2017 membership total has overtaken the previous record of 52,195 set in 2016.
The milestone was achieved today, a day before the Cats upcoming home game against Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.
Geelong Cats coach Chris Scott thanked the club’s loyal members for their support.
“A big thank you to our 2017 members, we have broken the record yet again,” Scott said.
“Support in the first home game was incredible and we’re looking forward to getting you all along to the unveiling of our fantastic new facility at Simonds Stadium, our real home venue.
“Thanks again for joining our journey in 2017, Go Cats.”
Geelong Cats Chief Executive Brian Cook sincerely thanked the club’s members and reminded fans there are exciting times ahead.
“On behalf of the club, a huge thank you to our members who have already signed up for season 2017. You are a vital part of our club and we couldn’t do it without you,” Cook said.
“The Charles Brownlow Stand is a five year vision which is about to come to life. It will be an outstanding addition to our member experience at home games at Simonds Stadium and it’s only six weeks away.
“Every Cats supporter out there who hasn’t yet signed up, I encourage you to do so. There are exciting times ahead on and off the field in 2017 and we want you to be a part of it.
“Our target is 57,000 members this year and while reaching a membership record is pleasing, we are firmly focused on the end goal.”
