Geelong recruit Scott Selwood is not putting pressure on himself to play a part in the Cats upcoming NAB Challenge campaign.
Selwood, recruited as a free agent from West Coast, had ankle surgery in October but has stepped up his training in recent weeks.
Speaking to K Rock Football, Selwood said he would have a wait and see approach to the upcoming preseason games.
“At this stage, the way it’s looking, it’s touch and go,” Selwood said.
“If I could get some time playing in the NAB, that would be great, but if not, I’m not fussed.
“I just know I need to come back close to 100 per cent and play as effectively as I can for the team.
After battling the ankle injury for much of the past few seasons at the Eagles, Selwood said the Cats medical staff will continue to monitor it.
“It’s one of those things that’s ongoing,” he said.
“We have to monitor it every four weeks, and at the moment we’re training really well and making some really good progress.
“But, at this stage, we’ll go through this four-week block and then we’ll reassess.”
