Jake Kolodjashnij has bounced back quickly from the broken hand he suffered at training in the lead-up to the Cats' round eight clash with Adelaide.
The dashing defender underwent surgery following the injury, but he rejoined the main training group on Wednesday and is a big chance to line up against Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
"Jake's making really good progress with the hand surgery he had two weeks ago," Cats physio Mark Young said on the round 10 episode of nib Medical Room.
"He's been joining in some training drills today and feeling confident.
"We'll do a few more tests on Friday, but he's a chance to play this weekend."
Young also confirmed that midfielder Sam Menegola, who has fought back from a knee injury, and key forward Mitch Clark, who has overcome a series of calf problems, would have been fit enough to play in the VFL this weekend.
As the VFL Cats have a bye, Menegola and Clark will have to wait until the round nine clash against Sandringham at Simonds Stadium on June 5 to make their comebacks.
