Geelong coach Chris Scott says two-way communication between players and their coaches is paramount to success.
Speaking on this week’s episode of #TweetTheCoach, Scott noted how his playing group freely contribute to the direction and strategy of the team overall, and that it would be remiss for their ideas to go unheard.
“The way we view it, we’ve got 30 to 35 experts in their field that we’d be crazy not to consult when we’re developing strategy,” Scott said.
“I’m a big believer that the players have a different perspective on the field to the one the coaches have from the coaching box.”
“It’s important to sit down and talk through those things and often – in fact most of the time – I would say the things that we do strategically have at least been worked through with our senior players.”
