All the talk after Geelong's big win over Port Adelaide was about Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield.
But on Monday night Cats coach Chris Scott revealed on Fox Footy's AFL360 program that he gave the maximum votes in the AFL Coaches' Association Player of the Year Award to someone other than the two superstars.
"I've made a split-second decision and, I'll be honest, I gave them to Cam Guthrie," Scott said.
Guthrie received impressed his coach by having the better of his battle with Port gun Robbie Gray.
"We think Gray's one of the best players in the comp," Scott said.
The release of the AFLCA votes on Tuesday confirmed that both coaches were impressed with Guthrie's performance on Gray.
Along with the five votes he was given by Scott, Guthrie also received four from Power boss Ken Hinkley.
