Geelong midfielder Lincoln McCarthy has recovered well after rolling his ankle in Saturday’s win over the West Coast Eagles and could line up against the Crows on Friday night.

McCarthy underwent precautionary scans that have cleared him of any damage. He will train this week and the club will then make an assessment as to whether he can take his place in Friday night’s blockbuster at the Adelaide Oval.

“The prognosis is positive and now we will assess how quickly the ankle responds to treatment,” Geelong’s general manager of football Steve Hocking said.

“There has been rapid improvement since Saturday and Linc is a chance to play on Friday night. Our medical staff will continue to work with him to determine whether he can get through the game this week.”

McCarthy has kicked seven goals this season and has been a solid contributor in the early part of the campaign.
